I used the Veroni factor in Grasshopper, in a rectangle to make random made columns. I used number sliders to create a shape and size I liked best. After baking them into Rhino, I took out a random amount from the center, and draped the columns to create a surface I then manipulated more in rhino.
This is from my tutorial / I didn't save the grasshopper file but it was the same, the rectangle size was different
Unfortunately, I was unable to print this model. I'm sure that there was a way to complete what I wanted to, but we got to the last work day and I hadn't figured it out so I had to simplify the base, and make it a rectangle. I did really love the curve of my original base that I manipulated with number sliders.
Everything worked now, and I was happy with it, because even though the base was simple it has its randomness element which I love.
Final print was a success and a fail. No support issues like my first print ever, but that's because there were no supports. I found out I actually did need supports, for the top of the columns, as the roof of them fell down.
