As the Student Council prepares for its “Neon Night Homecoming,” many important events and elements contribute to its success.
Armstrong High School’s Homecoming will occur on Saturday, October 12th, 2024. Doors will open at 6:45 pm and the Neon Night will commence at 7:00 pm. The dance will end at 10:00. Tickets are $25.
Leah Hogamier from The Hawk’s View sat with Student Council President Issac Zielinski and Treasurer Marcus Montebell to discuss what to expect at this year’s homecoming.
When asked about how many students contribute to the planning and execution of homecoming, Isaac states “About 85.” He notes that this also includes the Art Club, which makes the decorations for the night.
As this is the first “Neon” Homecoming to be recorded, be sure to expect bright and vibrant decorations. When asked about the amount of time that goes into planning homecoming, Issac states “A lot - probably two months worth, it's all we think about for the first few meetings.” Marcus agrees, “Way more time than people.” Five committees were formed to properly plan every element. These include Decorating, Communications, The Pep Rally, T-Shirt, and Music.
As for the theme, it was decided by a voting system. The other theme candidates included Hollywood, Enchanted Forest, Disco, and Hoedown. Ultimately, the most popular theme was Neon Night, and Issac states “This is the first ever Neon theme to be recorded at AHS.”
Events leading up to the dance will include Spirit Week and the Pep Rally on October 11th. The homecoming football game will be against Kiski Area High School and the theme will be Pink Out. Issac expects a successful turnout for the dance, stating that 600 tickets were sold last year. He also includes that the most tickets ever sold were 770, and he wants to break this record.

The dance will be held in the Sr. High Cafeteria along with refreshments found in the Jr. High Cafeteria. When asked why everyone should participate in Homecoming, Issac states “It’s Student Council's biggest event - don’t miss out - it's going to be bumpin’.”
