Senior captains Logan Hooks, Adam Hooks, and Carson Franceshi predict that the rest of the hockey season will go well despite their self-described slow start.
This year’s hockey season began in September and runs until March. The trio is joined by sophomore captains Jake Graff and Aiden Morando as well as seniors Ethan Barnhart, Kira Gordon, Nolan Mills, Aiden Kutch, Luke Louis, and Landon Crissman.
They described the 2023-2024 team as close but explained that many underclassmen are also new to the group since so many seniors graduated last year.
The three captains said that teamwork and competition are the most enjoyable elements of playing hockey.
“One person can’t do everything,” they said, emphasizing the importance of coordination.
All three seniors have been playing hockey for fourteen years. They started skating when their parents signed them up after their older siblings joined. They continued because they enjoyed it so much.
The captains’ favorite memories involve hanging out in the locker room and enjoying each other's company. The team also goes to McDonalds before practices.
Logan and Carson do not plan to continue hockey in college, but Adam does. He hasn’t committed anywhere yet.
They predict that in the coming years of hockey at AHS, the team will keep building and the overall popularity of the program will grow.
“Time flies, enjoy it while you can,” they offered as advice to underclassmen. “Just have fun. Don’t take it too seriously.”
