The Armstrong River Hawks Girls volleyball team for the first time traveled to Florida, for a day camp to learn “new skills”, to be put to their ability for the 2024-2025 season.
Armstrong Girls Volleyball Seniors include Gabrielle Pawk, Annie Atwood, Avery Hogan, Marlo Mellish, and Emry Rumbaugh.
The team has been working hard in regards to their games, and Marlo said, “We’re starting to get close to each other and become more of a team.” Annie said, “We’re doing a lot better than we thought last year because of all the seniors we lost that year.”
Emry is excited to see where the team goes in the future, and she thinks “We can go far if we work together.” Throughout these games, if the team then wants to go far, “we have to go game-by-game,” Marlo says.
As it is the Girls Volleyball seniors’ last year on the court, the eldest of the team members are looking back on their past memories. Emry, and Annie's favorite memories that they will miss include “winning sections junior year and that it was a highlight.” Marlo’s favorite memory was, “having fun at the Franklin Regional game.”

Regarding strategies with the volleyball games, we might do every set during the game; every new set rotation to see what is best for us Marlo stated. Along with figuring out strategies for the games, Emry said that regardless, “we always work together.”
Emry’s advice to any of the incoming freshmen is, “You only have four years so enjoy them while they last.” Annie’s advice to them is, “Be confident rather than nervous on the court is the better option,” and Marlo’s is, “Nothing will come easy to you."
