The Cross Country team is doing “very well,” according to captain Kiefer Riskosky, pointing out that the team has shown development across the whole board, from younger to older grades. According to Kiefer, “this year, we’re a more well-rounded team than previous years,” indicating that every person, whether a seventh grader, freshman, senior, or anything in between, are doing their part, so much so that Kiefer is excited to see how times develop, even just over the rest of the season.
According to a definition of strategy that includes having a good mindset, Kiefer believes that the team is very good at that, stating, “We’re good at putting the negative thought of ‘I can’t do it,’” which, according to him, is the team’s defining strategy.
Kiefer, a senior, and thus is moving on from Armstrong's Cross Country team once the season ends, believes that his favorite memories are the team-building moments at the WPIAL meets, where there are food trucks and a good time. Kiefer’s advice to any upcoming players in the future would be to “never give up,” as well as to keep going, “even if your body tells you to stop (of course with exceptions),” and that by doing that, “you’ll get good outcomes.”
