In one word, Natalie Kamer described this year’s girls tennis season as “exciting,” despite the fact that she is the only senior tennis player and the team has had a lackluster season. It was a learning experience, she explained. The focus was on individual improvement and skill-building as opposed to winning.
Natalie’s favorite memories playing tennis are bonding with last year’s seniors and the van rides to away games. She’s also enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends that join the team. Natalie hopes that the underclassmen have had as good a time bonding with her as she did bonding with the seniors in the past.
To bond, the team’s participants serve as a support system for one another, and they enjoy spending time together before matches. “It was fun,” Natalie said. “We had a good time.”
Kamer is committed to Slippery Rock University, and she hopes to major in special and elementary education. She does not have plans to continue tennis at college, but she is grateful for the experiences she’s had on the team.
“Just have fun,” she said to the underclassmen. “Don’t be too hard on yourself!”
