This year’s girls golf team had the lowest team score in Armstrong history. Additionally, they finished second in the 3A section and seventh in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) finals. In the finals, Autumn Tutak scored 90, Drew Starr 94, Mylee Lorigan 96, and Emma Paul 108.
Their overall record for this year is 14-4 and their section record is 8-2, according to Coach Catherine King.
Senior Ella Graff and junior Mylee Lorigan represented the girls golf team at the interview. Other seniors on the team include Emma Lange, Hannah Sperl, Megan Jack, and Abigail Bauer.
To bond, the team goes to the range and travels in the “very bond-ful” “wagon” (otherwise known as the school district van). “It’s the best chemistry we ever had,” said Mylee.
Mylee and Ella got into the sport in a similar way, seeing as both of their houses are in close proximity with the Kittanning Country Club golf course. According to Ella, “It’s kind of peaceful out in the golf course. It helps me clear my mind.”
Both Mylee and Ella plan to play golf in college, although Ella’s plans are to attend Carlow University for cardiovascular perfusion. They also believe that in coming years, the girls golf team will have similar success, and will possibly achieve more. As advice, the two captains said to go with the flow and not to let a bad shot ruin your game.
