Without student council, there would be no homecoming. The club’s officers and members put in an abundance of time and effort to ensure the dance’s success. Natalie Kamer, student council president, and Isaac Zielinski, co-chair of the pep rally committee, sat down to discuss their plans for this year’s homecoming festivities. The homecoming theme is “Under the Stars.” For this year’s dance, there are multiple committees to ensure that the dance goes smoothly. Isaac is excited to help lead the pep rally committee. “You basically just get the students excited for the game and for the dance,” Isaac said. Weather permitting, student council is planning to hold the pep rally at Nextier Bank Athletic Complex; however, it may be moved to the gym.
In addition to the beloved tradition of musical chairs, there are also going to be knockerballs at the pep rally this year. Knockerballs are plastic bubble-like spheres that are worn as protection in a fake sumo wrestling match. These activities are for the senior court, whose theme is “Rhyme without Reason.”
In addition to the typical junior and senior court, there is also going to be a teacher court this year. Just like the students’ court, there will be a king and queen for the teachers. The teachers nominated for court are Mrs. Kidder, Doctor Snyder, Ms. Douglas, Mrs. McCauley, Mr. Meyer, Mr. Choncek, Mr. Fishel, and Mr. Swanson.
As for the dance itself, Natalie Kamer said “There are going to be some surprises.” The homecoming pep rally is Oct. 5, the football game is Oct. 6, and the dance is Oct. 7. Student council is excited to unveil their preparations for the three-day long festivities.
