How should my bike be equipped?

In order for a bicycle to be safe for road traffic, certain requirements must be met.

In this photo, you can see what equipment your bike needs to safely navigate through the city:

Additionally, tools are available in every rider station to help you independently repair your bike if something is broken.

What do I have to consider as an e-bike rider?

First of all: Your e-bike must NOT exceed a power output of 250 watts or 25 km/h!

Every rider with an e-bike is also obliged to present an annual technical certificate.

Please note:

What are spot checks?

As a foodora Rider, you are obliged to wear a helmet. An accident can have serious health consequences, which is why we take the issue of road safety very seriously and carry out regular checks on the road to ensure that all foodora riders are wearing a safety helmet.

The helmet is part of the basic equipment set, so every rider should have a helmet.

If you, as a permanent employee, ride without a helmet and are observed doing so, you will have to cancel your shift due to the risk of an accident. You will then be suspended and have to come to the Rider Station. There you will undergo additional training and receive a written warning.

💡Please note: Repeated misconduct can lead to a termination.

What happens if I receive a fine from the police during my shift?

Traffic fines, anonymous orders, and administrative penalties are a troublesome issue. They cost money and signal that behavior in traffic was not in accordance with regulations. If you get caught, the police or another authorized authority will sanction you accordingly. It is your responsibility to adhere to traffic rules during your working hours. Please always drive defensively and carefully, follow traffic rules, and be cautious so that you don't endanger yourself or other road users.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you are stopped or even sanctioned by the police, please behave politely, discreetly, and cooperatively. The police in Austria and foodora work in partnership. The officers will always try to explain the situation to you in a professional and courteous manner.

💡Please note: If you receive any kind of fine or sanction, you have to cover the payments yourself!
