How much money will I earn (per order)?

This depends on how often you book slots and how much orders you deliver during your slots.

However, you should earn an average of approx. 4,40€ for every order you complete, mileage included.

The more orders you deliver, the more your hourly earnings.

We can guarantee an hourly payment of at least 8,65€, but it is possible to earn up to 18€ per hour.

The guaranteed payment of €8.65 refers to the sum of all orders delivered compared to the total time per month.

⚡️Example: You drive 10 hours and only earn €70. Your total earnings will therefore be increased to €86.50.

💡Please note: This guarantee only applies if you actually deliver orders within the specified time.

What do my earnings consist of?

We told you about an average of 4,40€ per order. Depending on different factors like distances and order type, this may vary.

Let's look at an example, where the distance between acceptance, pick-up and drop-off is two kilometres each:

💡All values shown are purely fictitious

What is mileage and how is it calculated?

Mileage is the fixed amount of 0.38€ you get for every kilometre you drive.
For each delivery, we multiply this amount by the distances between acceptance, pick-up and drop-off.

Your distances (kilometres travelled) are measured using the shortest Google Maps route.

⬆️In the example above, you can see how mileage is calculated, assuming that the shortest distances between acceptance, pick-up and drop-off are 2 kilometres each. You can check your kilometres driven and your tips in the Rider app at any time.

💡Attention: Mileage is tax-free up to 570€ per year.

What about tips and additional payments?

Customers have the option of tipping you online via the foodora app

Do not ask customers for tips, but if you still receive a cash tip at the drop-off, you can of course keep it.

In both cases, tips are generally subject to income tax and social security contributions. You are also legally obliged to state your cash tip on your fee note. We will automatically add your online tip to the fee note! You can also view your online tip from the next day in the Rider App in the tab "payments". Taxes and duties will be deducted automatically by foodora.

💡Please note: In the case of a split delivery, the online tip is divided equally between the Riders.

What are stacked orders?

Sometimes you receive several orders from different customers at the same restaurant within a few minutes.

Please note that in the case of double or triple orders, the pick-up (collection from the restaurant) is paid once, unless there are pick-ups at different restaurants.

The drop-off (delivery to customers) is then paid twice or three times, depending on the number of orders.

💡The following calculation is only an example. All values shown are purely fictitious.

Where can I find my payment Details?

You can see all your payment details (mileage, tips, earnings) in the Rider App.
Choose "payments" in your side menu.

💡If the amounts are confusing or incorrect, please submit a ticket to our Rider Support!

What is the Gold Reward and how does it work?

For all especially enduring riders among you, who deliver hundreds of orders per month, the GOLD REWARD offers a gross bonus of an extra €111! This is our thank you for your reliability and dedication.

To qualify for the bonus, you must meet the following criteria:

1. Tenure: Active weeks as a rider at foodora - the longer you have been working with foodora (formerly mjam), the better you score in this criterion.
2. Batch: You are in Batch 1 or 2 and belong to the top 320 riders in Austria. A new ranking is created every month in this category.
3. Orders: You qualify for the Gold Reward if you have successfully delivered at least 250 orders in the respective month.

Rules to consider for the Gold Reward:

- Criteria 1 & 2 must both be met.
- The observation period is each calendar month.
- The determination of the winners occurs in the first working week of each month with the payroll.
- The 320 winners will be notified in the Rider App during the first working week of the respective following month.

Payout process:

- The top 420 riders with a freelance contract receive the Gold Reward of €111.00 as payment in the app.
- Payments are made on one of the first working days of the new month as quickly as possible.
- You can then check in the app under "payments" to find out if you have managed to secure the Gold Reward!

How is a redispatch paid for?

You will receive €1.00 for each re-dispatch. In addition, the kilometre allowance / mileage for collection is €0.38 per kilometre.

How is a cancelled order paid for?

If an order is cancelled due to a problem on the part of the customer or the restaurant, you will receive compensation for the cancelled order. The amount of compensation depends on the delivery-stage when the cancellation was made.

⚡️Example 1: You drive to the restaurant to pick up the order. If the order is cancelled by the customer in the meantime, you no longer have to pick it up. You receive the mileage allowance for the distance already travelled (x0.38€).

⚡️Example 2: You have picked up the order and are on your way to the customer. If the order is cancelled in the meantime, you no longer have to deliver it. You will receive the kilometre allowance for the distance already travelled (x0.38€) plus 1€ for the pick-up at the restaurant.

💡Please note: canceled orders are manually entered into your Rider app at the end of the month, so you won't see them immediately!

What is a fee note and how will I receive my payments?

A fee note is a written statement of the services you have provided.

As a free employee, you must check your fee note every month and sign it online.

If we do not receive a fee note from you, we cannot transfer any payment to you.

Keep in mind:

💡 If you submit your fee note too late, we won't be able to take it into account for the current billing period.

How is a fee note structured?

Will I receive proof of my earnings?

The fee (proof of monthly earnings) will be sent to you by email with the bank transfer.

💡Please download the document first before you open it!

In the example below you can see 2 different fees, one below and one above the marginal earnings threshold.

When will I receive my payments?

After you have signed your fee note, you will receive your money usually between the 8th and 17th of the following month

Depending on your bank, the money will be in your account a few days earlier or later.

💡If you do not have a transfer in your account after the 17th of the month, please contact our Rider Support via ticket with the subject "Payroll".

What if I miss the deadline for signing a fee note?

If you miss the deadline for the fee note, you can sign it again in the following month

In this case, fill out two separate fee notes: one for the previous month and one for the current month.

Why are there more or less orders on my fee note?

If the number of orders in the fee notes email does not match the number of orders in the Rider app, there may be various reasons for this.

The most common reasons are cancelled orders (you will see these orders once we manually adjusted it by the end of the month).

💡If you are not sure whether your fee note is correct, please write a ticket with the subject "change of fee note".

How do I change my bank details?

Please enter your new bank details in the Rider app.

Go to your profile ➜ bank details ➜ edit bank details

💡Your bank details will always be changed at the end of the month. Therefore, let us know in good time so that your next fee is transferred to the correct account. You can also find all the information about data changes here!

What is a marginal earnings limit?

The marginal earnings limit is €518.44 per month (2024). If you want to be marginally employed, you must not exceed this limit - you must ensure this yourself.

💡Please note: If your contract does not start on the first day of the month or end on the last day of the month, the marginal earnings limit will be calculated aliquot in this case. Find more information on that below!

When must my earnings be lower than the minimal threshold (marginal earnings limit)?

Earnings can be lower in the first and last month of a contract, depending on your entry or exit date.

⚡️For example, if your contract begins on December 21, you are able to work for only 10 days in December, and you must calculate the minimal threshold proportionally:
€518.44 / 30 days x 10 days = €172.81 - This is the amount you must not exceed for the month of December.
The full €518.44 will be considered again in January if you were employed for the entire month (30 days).

💡For payment matters, a month is always calculated with 30 days, regardless of the actual number of days in the current month.

How can I calculate the aliquot threshold by myself?

Use the following calculation to know your aliquot marginal earnings limit:

(see also the example above)

marginal earnings limit

/ by /

Number of days in the month (always calculated with 30)

x times x

the number of days under your active employment contract

aliquot marginal earnings threshold

What if I want to stay below the income limit of €518,44 per month?

If you want to stay below the marginal earnings limit, please note the following when booking rider slots:

This means that your income in 2024 (including bonuses), together with your mileage allowance and your online and cash tips, must remain below the marginal earnings threshold of €518.44 per month.

💡You can check your kilometres driven and your tips in the Rider app at any time.
