I'm sick and can't come to work, what should I do?

We wish you a speedy recovery and hope you feel better soon! Of course, you should not get back on the bike now, but should rest so that you can be healthy again soon.


As a permanent employee, please follow these two steps:


Step 1: Please create a ticket immediately, before the start of your shift, and send us your doctor's sick note via ticket. It is best if you send us the sick note on the first day of your illness, as the ÖGK (Austrian Health Insurance Fund) only accepts retrospective sick notes until the first working day. The deadline for this is three calendar days later.


Step 2: Additionally, create an absence request via the Rider App so we know how long we will have to do without you. Send us either a closed sick note or a sick note with a reappointment date.

💡Please note that your absence will remain "rejected" until you have sent us your sick note. 


As a permanent employee, you will be paid for your sick leave. 

However, please note that you are only entitled to this compensation, if you send us your sick note within three days and you have created an absence request in the Rider App. 


If you have not done this, we will have to deregister you due to the unexcused no-show for the period of your absence. No wages will be paid for this period. 


It is important to understand that sick leave is paid only for a certain period of time, not indefinitely. You can find more information on the ÖGK website: ÖGK Information on Sick Leave.


💡Please be aware that non-compliance with these instructions can lead to legal consequences (labor law). You will first receive a written warning. If you repeatedly fail to show up for work without excuse, this can lead to termination.

How can I request vacation leave?

As a genuine employee, please follow the steps below if you want to go on vacation leave. 

Step 1: First, please create an absence request with type "Leave" in the Rider app.

Step 2: Write us a ticket with the subject "Vacation".

💡Please note that you must announce your vacation at least two weeks in advance.

You are entitled to a total of five weeks of paid vacation per contract year. This corresponds to 25 working days. 

Unused vacation days can be carried over to the following year. You have 3 years to use up your vacation. Two entries appear on your payslip; you are always entitled to the current aliquot remaining vacation. 

💡Please note: Vacation leave is always a matter of agreement with the employer in accordance with §4(1) of the Leave Act (Urlaubsgesetz).

What happens to my plus hours?

As a permanent employee, you will receive the exact amount of your plus hours approximately one week after the monthly payslip.
💡They are not shown on the pay slip, so that we can include the entire last month.


In addition, we would like to inform you that after the end of a 16-week calculation period from the beginning of the year, your accumulated good hours will be compensated UNLESS you want to consume them as time off.


Therefore, we will send you an email with a google form. Enter in this form if and how many plus hours you want to receive as compensation.


To consume your plus hours, simply request an absence in your rider app!


⚠️ Attention: Only for part-time and marginal employees: (does not apply to 40 hours per week)!!!!

What to do if my gear / equipment is damaged?

If your bike or cell phone is broken, you may be absent for a maximum of 1 day, if you have sent us a ticket with proof of your broken bike or cell phone. To do this, send us a description of the damage and preferably a photo of your broken bike / cell phone via ticket as well as the invoice for the repair as proof.

You can have your bike repaired free of charge at the foodora Rider Station. You only have to buy the spare parts yourself. You may even be able to borrow a replacement bike from the Rider Station. Please contact your Rider Captain for more information!

You can also rent an e-bike from one of our cooperation partners in the meantime. You can find all information about the e-bikes here.

💡If your foodora branded equipment is broken (backpack, jacket, helmet, ...) you can exchange it for a new one at the Rider Station, free of charge!

Important doctor's or official appointment?

If you can't make your shift because you have an urgent appointment with an authority, court or doctor that you can't postpone, please contact us in good time by ticket. You can get a time confirmation from the authorities or doctor. If you also send us your time confirmation by ticket, your absence will be excused.

💡Please note: The time confirmation is only valid for a certain period of time (by the hour). After that, you must return to work.

How to proceed in case of Maternity Leave?
