Dons Defeated by Div 2 La Serna

Dons 53-116 La Serna HS

It was a big effort putting up 53 points against La Serna. The AquaDons went 0-11 in events. We were close (7-9/6-10) in three events off the back of Michael Matchan and David Tarazon: the 100 Free (David Tarazon, Jay Vera, and Nico Gonzalez), 500 Free (Michael Matchan and Jeremy Alonso) and the 100 Breast (Michael Matchan, Vincent Mejia, and Robert Robles). And of course, a special nod goes to the two 400 Free Relay teams for maintaining a disciplined mentality and not getting DQ'd, like the La Serna "B" team.

Another swim to look out for at Del Rio League Finals: David Tarazon was just edged out of first in the 100 Back.

Belated congratulations to Jeremy Alonso and Jay Vera for passing the 100 point mark for the season last week against Whittier. Joining them last night was Vincent Mejia. Individual totals last night are as follows:

David Tarazon (16/28), Michael Matchan (14/28), Jeremy Alonso (12/28), Vincent Mejia (11/28), Jay Vera (10/28), Daniel Bautista (8/28), Gio Cabrerra (7/28), Ismael Juarez (5/28), Robert Robles (4/28), Nico Gonzalez (2/20), and Fausto Gonzalez (2/14)

Three Man JV team falls to La Serna

A couple of family emergencies brought our five man JV team to three. Three isn't enough to swim any of the three relays, so our remaining swimmers could only swim 2 events each. Of the seven individual events, La Serna swept 1-2-3 for six. Jared Gonzalez took 3rd in the 100 Free to ensure that didn't happen.

All three swimmers scored 4/12 points: Jared Gonzalez, Fernando Antonio, and Isaac Mejia. The boys will need a better showing against Santa Fe if they hope to break the 100 point barrier.

As it currently stands, Fernando Antonio (94pts) has the best shot, followed closely by Mateo Ramirez (82), Isaac Mejia (76), and Jared Gonzalez (71). Isaac Esqueda remains scoreless for JV missing all three league competitions so far.
