Dons (Boys) Refuse to Capitulate to Condors

AquaDons 61-103 Cal Hi

Last Friday, El Rancho Boys Swim lost to California Hi 61-103. The final dual meet between ER and Cal was delayed a day due to the lack of availability of meet officials, but it gave both teams ample time to recognize their senior swimmers. Cal Hi was gracious enough to allow the Dons to have their Senior Night at Cal. El Rancho is in its 3rd season without a home pool to practice in or host swim meets, and will probably be homeless for a fourth season, due to an unfortunate dispute between the new LA County Pool and Whittier Union High School District.

In the dual meet, El Rancho mustered up three event wins, a 7-6 win in the 200 IM, a 10-6 win in the 50 Free, and 7-6 win in the 100 Backstroke. Michael Mitchan and Vincent Mejia would team up for both wins in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Castor Villegas, Christian Elias, and Julio Jimenez-Perez would go 1st-3rd-5th for a 10-6 win in the 50 Free.

Some other highlights included David Tarazon taking 2nd in the 200 Free and 100 Back, while the 200 and 400 Free Relay Teams would secure 2nd place victories. Jeremy Alonso was able to break the 6-min barrier for his 500 free.
