Boys Swim Season Starts with a Win

AquaDons 100-55 Moors

Led by Seniors Castor V (28pts) and Raphichy O (26pts), and newcommer Junior David T (28pts), the AquaDons cruised to a comfortable victory over the Alhambra High Moors. The boys won all three relay events (10-4/10-4/10-0) and 7 out of 8 individual swims.

The Moors kept it close in the 200 Free, 200 IM, & 100 Breaststroke, losing each event by a single point, and took a 4 point win in the 100 Fly, but the AquaDons took a 5 point victory in the 50 Free, with Castor V and Christian E touching the wall 1-2.

David T and Jay V took a 9-4 win in the 100 Back but were outdone by Jeremy A, Gio E, and Eduardo P.’s 11-4 victory in the 500 Free.

Saturday sees the AquaDons at a very nontraditional, co-ed relay event.

JV Boys work out the kinks in an exhibition at Alhambra.

The Aquadons didn’t have a JV opponent, but it didn’t stop them from swimming exhinition heats to showcase their very short practice schedule. The young AquaDons, like their Varsity counterparts, had only eight practices in three weeks, to prepare. For many, it was not enough, and coach Rojo has a to do list of corrections, from flip-turns to various technical details like head position. But for some returnees liks Michael M and Vincent M, strong swims and attention to detail might bring them into the Varsity Ranks.
