Swimming Sweeps Bell Gardens

The AquaDons took on the Lancers of Bell Gardens on Thursday, February 28. Pre-season meets are a good opportunity to shake off the dust from last year and give newer swimmers the opportunity to feel the rhythm of a dual meet. As invitational meets can provide opportunities for close competition and time to rest between events, dual meets are a test of an athlete's speed and recovery. Most swimmers will compete in 4 total events in an 2.5 hour competition. Sprinters can have it as easy as covering 300 yds in a competition, but distance swimmers like Andrew Ortiz and Karinna Lopez, that could mean 850 yds of all out effort.

El Rancho swept all levels against Bell Gardens.

Highlight of the swim meet was for the Women's Team. Freshman Lorelei Rojo posted two new records: #4 time for the 100 Butterfly and #1 time for the 100 Backstroke.  She joins her brother, Carlos Rojo, who holds multiple school records, including the Men's #1 Backstroke time and Men's #1 50 Free time.
