On a team-side note, I'm excited to award our Sub-60 Gang patch to Henry Zepeda-Linares, finishing his ERHS Swim career with a 56.87 in his 100 Freestyle, as well as sophomore Castor Villegas for his 59.81. For swimmers of all age groups, the first time you post a time under 60 seconds in a 100 yard swim is a milestone, but especially for non-age group swimmers. Swimming competitively takes a few years to learn good form and technique. Henry and Castor join current teammate Victor Villegas and former ERHS swimmer Carlos Rojo (both Freestyle and Backstroke).
Everyone on the boys team is tasked with earning a minimum of 15 points for the season to qualify for their Varsity letter. I am thrilled to report that every member of the swim team met that goal. Three of our swimmers were short at the end of the regular season, but managed to pull through in their respective events to earn 15 total.
