Senior Day @ Santa Fe
Senior Day was at Santa Fe because our home pool is OOC... that's Out Of Commission for the uninitiated. And to no surprise to the coaches, some of them set new Personal Best times. Highlights from the Girls meet:
Citlali Antonio, who recently returned from a family trip, dropped a whopping 11 seconds on her 200 Free. Arianna Garcia shaved 2 seconds off the 5o Free sprint. Estrella Cervantes improved her 100 Backstroke time by 2 seconds as well.
Lorelei Rojo took first place in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Citlali A took first place in the 500 and Adriana Lopez took first place in the 100 Breaststroke. The 4X100 Freestyle Relay team (Melissa Hernandez, Citlali A, Ivy Cervantez, and Lorelei R) also took first place.
The ERHS Top-5 All-Time 100 Freestyle has a new name on the board - Lorelei R slips into 4th place, pushing Madelyn Meneses's 2017 time into 5th and displacing Anette Gomez's 2015 time from the board.
The Boys had their ups and downs today. Some of the underclassmen continued to drop time and the upperclassmen took first place in a few key races:
Rodrigo Osorio dropped 3 seconds and Sebastian Jimenez dropped 9 seconds in the 200 Freestyle. Christian Elias dropped 6 seconds in the 200 IM. Raphichy Olveras dropped 3 seconds in his 50 Free and his teammate Eduardo Plata shaved another second off of last week's time. Eduardo P also shaved 8 seconds off his 500 Freestyle. Rodrigo O repeated his feat in the 100 Butterfly. Castor Villegas and Sebastian J both dropped 3 seconds in the 100 Breaststroke. But the biggest drops came from Jeremy Alonso, crushing is previous 8:23 500 Freestyle by a whopping 40 seconds!
The 4x50 Medley Relay team of Victor V, Henry Zepeda, Rodrigo O, and Castor V took first place, giving the three seniors a nice start to the meet. Victor V took lead all the way through his 200 IM. Raphichy O stunned the field with his first place swim in the 1oo Freestyle, while Rodrigo O powered past the Chiefs in the 100 Fly to take first place.
The AquaDons will finish up the 2021 season with Del Rio League Finals next Wednesday (Girls) and Friday (Boys). And if all goes well... there's a chance at CIF. Coach Rojo and Berryhill want to thank our Seniors. #OnceADonAlwaysADon:
