Boys Varsity Swimming beats Hoover (Glendale) 93 – 71

AquaDons 93-71 Tornados

The pouring rain was no help to the Tornados as El Rancho won 6 events, lost 3, and tied one for the 93-71 victory. The AquaDons took first place in 9 of 11 events and punched a 1-2 combo in Medley Relay (David Tarazon, Michael Matchan, Jeremy Alonso, & Castor Villegas), 100 Free (Villegas & Jay Vera), 100 Back (Tarazon & Vera), and 100 Breast (Matchan & Raphicy Olvera).

Along with the 1st place points, it was swimmers Gio Cabrera, Raphichy Olveras, Christian Elias, Vincent Mejia, and Daniel Bautista, who accounted for the 19 points that made the difference in the dual meet. If the AquaDons had lost those 19 points and the Tornados had taken them, El Rancho would have lost 74-90.

Other notable swims see Giovanni Cabrera is already 10 seconds faster than his best time in the 500 last year. Michael Matchan lowered in 200 IM time by 30 seconds and Castor Villegas is 2 seconds faster than last year’s 100 free.

Yesterday’s meet saw 9 CIF Consideration Times and 3 Automatic Times swam by  5 different swimmers and 2 different relay teams.
