Good Morning!

Happy Tuesday Nursery! Miss Bailey enjoyed seeing some of you on our Google Meets session yesterday, and loved hearing about your favourite animals.

We hope you are ready for another great day of learning! This time next week we will all be back together at school! What are you looking forward to playing with when we are back at school? Are you looking forward to getting outside? Using the dinosaurs? Tipping and pouring in the water tray? We have so much to look forward to!

Please see below for today's video!

Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for this week?

Phonics

Yesterday we started learning a new letter 'k'.

Watch the video below which recaps on some of the letters we already know and continues to explore the letter 'k'. Afterwards you can watch the Alphablocks video about 'k'.

English

We are really pleased with how well your name writing is developing at home! Today we would like you to practice overwriting your name first, then write it yourself using your name card for support. Remember to only use a capital letter at the beginning of your name, and use the SNAPPY CROCODILE to make sure you are holding the pencil correctly!

Last week we heard the story of The Ugly Duckling, a traditional tale. This week's traditional story is 'The Little Red Hen'. The Little Red Hen is a story about a hen who finds some wheat and decides to make some bread. She asks the other farm animals to help her out but they refuse.

Click on the link below to listen to the story.

After you have listened to the story, you can tell your grown up all about it by getting them to ask you these questions:

  1. What happened in the story?

  2. Who is your favourite character in the story and why?

  3. What is your favourite part of the story and why?

  4. Did you like the story and why?

After you have listened to the story, you might like to listen to 'The Little Red Hen' song.

Maths

Today's 'Number of the Day' is 3. 3 is an odd number. Complete a 'Number of the Day' sheet from your new work pack, focussing on number 3.

Afterwards you can watch the Numberblocks number 3 video!

Today in maths we are going to practice ordering numbers. Can you count to 10? Start at 0 - what comes next?

Can you go all the way to 10? Well done if you can! That means that you might be able to put numbers in order too!

To start with today, we are going to play Caterpillar Ordering on Topmarks. Click on the Caterpillar picture opposite to take you there. Start with ordering 1 to 5 and then try ordering 1 to 10.

Lets practice ordering our number cards! You will need your number cards from 0 to 10. See if you can order them! Let's start with just the numbers 0 to 5. If you start with 0, what comes next? Find that number and put it down. What will come after that? Continue until you have no cards left. If you manage to order all the numbers to 5 correctly, see if you can go beyond to 10! Be sure to look back over the numbers to check that you have them all there and that they are in the right place!

If you're looking for something extra to do - you could help Peter Pan find the missing numbers! You have this sheet in your Home Learning pack. Write in the missing numbers to 10, to help Peter Pan get to Tinkerbell. You can use the number cards you have ordered before to help you!

Afternoon Activity - Yummy yummy in our tummy!

This morning we heard the story of how Little Red Hen baked some bread, so today we would like you to be the bakers.

Below, we have included two simple recipes that you can choose from, or you might have something at home that you would prefer to bake! After you have baked your chosen item, take a picture to send to us on EvidenceMe. In your work book, draw the ingredients that you needed to make it.

Don't forget - when we are baking we need to think about being safe, especially if you are using a hot oven. Make sure only your grown-ups touch anything hot, and stand back when they open the oven door!

We look forward to seeing your yummy bakes!

Today we are reading another story by Mick Inkpen.

It is called "The Great Pet Sale".

Which animal would you like from the pet shop?

I hope you enjoy today's story!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!
