Good Morning!

Well done Nursery for another fantastic week of home learning. Here is today's video!

Don't forget that next week we will start our small group Google Meets. You will receive an invitation on your school emails to the meetings.

Click the tree for today's Collective Worship
Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for this week?

Phonics

Today is our last day learning the letter 'm'! You could watch Scrap's video again, or join in with the Jolly Phonics song.

Today we're going to make silly soup! Remember to make silly soup we put in as many different things that we can find that start with the sound 'm'.

We mix them altogether and sing the silly soup song (to the tune of 'Pop Goes the Weasel')

I'm making silly soup,

I'm making soup that's silly.

I'm going to cook it in the fridge,

to make it nice and chilly!

Brrrrrrrr!

Can you make a bowl of silly soup at your house with things that start with 'm'?

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: In your work book draw a bowl with the different ingredients you put in your soup. Try and label them - even if you can only hear the first sound!

English

First, practice writing your name. Because it's FUN Friday though... you might like to practice it in a different way! Instead of using a writing pencil, you could use coloured markers or crayons. You could try and write your name in a tray of flour or salt. Maybe you could roll out some play dough and write your name in that! However if you would prefer to do it how we normally do - thats fantastic too!

Today we are going to be practicing our listening skills. Can you remember which part of our body we use to listen? That's right! Our ears. It is important to listen carefully. Sometimes it might be to keep you or other people safe, or to help you enjoy an activity. For today's activity you will need a piece of paper (or your work book) and also something to draw with! You are going to be listening to instructions on what to draw!

Listen carefully to the instructions and see what you create!

On the video at the side, there are some written instructions and you can hear them being read aloud. If you need more time, pause the video and continue when you are ready. At the end of the video, I have shown you what my drawing looks like. Yours might not look exactly the same, but it might look similar!

Maths

Today we are going to start by looking at our very bust picture again!

But today we would like you to look for things that are tall and things that are short.

Can you see any tall buildings?

Can you see any buildings that are shorter?

Look at the people in the picture. Can you compare how tall the people in the picture are? Who is taller? Who is shorter?

Today we are thinking about the height of things - or how tall something is. If you were to look around you right now, you can see some things are tall, and some things are shorter.

If we were to line up all the children in Nursery, some of us would be taller than others and some would be shorter. When we look at buildings around us too, some are taller, like the Shard, and some are shorter, like our school which only has one floor.

Look at the picture of these flower pairs. Can you point to all the flowers that are taller? Can you point to all the flowers that are shorter?

For your activity today we would like you to look around your house. Can you find 2 things that are taller than you? Can you find two things in your house that are shorter than you? Draw and label these in your work book.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: If you have some building blocks at home - can you make a tower that is taller than your favourite toy? Can you make a tower that is shorter than your favourite toy?

Afternoon Activity

In your home learning pack you have a self choice activity sheet. Each time you complete a task you can colour it in. For this afternoon we would like you to choose 2 activities to do, either by yourself or with your grown up. If you can't find the sheet, you can look at the digital version here.

Story Time!

Well done for another fantastic week of learning Nursery!! We are so proud of how hard you are working. And grown ups too - we really appreciate all of your support - we couldn't do this with out you.

To end this week, you can listen to this story about a girl called Mia, who shows us that it doesn't matter if you're short or tall!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
