Good Morning!

Well done for another week of home learning! We have enjoyed receiving your work via email and Evidence Me! Well done for working so hard!

What day of the week is it today? What day was it yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow?

Is today's weather the same or different to yesterday?

Click the tree for today's Collective Worship
Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for today?

Phonics

Today is our last day learning the letter 'n'! Below is the Jolly Phonics song. Can you sing along with it?

Can you name some things that start with 'n'?

Today we're going to make silly soup! Remember to make silly soup we put in as many different things that we can find that start with the sound 'n'.

We mix them altogether and sing the silly soup song (to the tune of 'Pop Goes the Weasel')

I'm making silly soup,

I'm making soup that's silly.

I'm going to cook it in the fridge,

to make it nice and chilly!

Brrrrrrrr!

Can you make a bowl of silly soup at your house with things that start with 'n'?

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: In your work book draw a bowl with the different ingredients you put in your soup. Try and label them - even if you can only hear the first sound!

English

It is important that you practice writing your name everyday! Using your name card, practicing writing over your name first, and then write it on the bottom line by yourself! Make sure that you are holding the pen correctly!

Today in English we are going to be practicing our listening skills. It is really important to be listening carefully to what you hear all the time. You are going to listen to this video of animals that you might find on a farm. After you have listened to it, see which animals you can remember hearing. Try and draw a picture of at least 3 animals you heard. Then try and label them, listening carefully for the initial sound.

Grown Ups - if your child is struggling to hear the initial sound, support them to try and hear it (we often emphasise the first sound saying it loudly, then the rest of the word a little quieter). This is a skill that can take lots of practice to develop. Once you have heard the sound together, find it on the letter mat. You can write it in either orange or yellow pencil for them to write over.

Maths

Today in Maths you are going to be using words such as 'longest' and 'shortest' to compare and measure toys and objects in your home.

Can you search around your home for 5 different sized objects or toys? Examples include a teddy, a sock, a book, a lego tower and a water bottle.

Lay them out onto the floor and look at them carefully. Which one is the longest? This item can go first. Continue to put the items in order from the longest to the shortest.

Now you could use building blocks, pencils or even your hands to measure the items. For example, a sock might measure 4 building blocks long, a teddy might measure 6 building blocks long. Which is the longest? What are you going to use to measure your items from longest to shortest?

Draw them in your book and ask your grown up to write down what you used to measure them with.

Afternoon Activity

In your home learning pack you have a self choice activity sheet. Each time you complete a task you can colour it in. For this afternoon we would like you to choose 2 activities to do, either by yourself or with your grown up. If you can't find the sheet, you can look at the digital version here.
