Good Morning!

Hello Nursery! Starting today, there will be a daily video at the top of our work for the day to let you know what is happening!

Don't forget to send in your work via EvidenceMe, or via email. We will be able to send feedback back to you. If you can, we would love to see at least 2 pieces of work from you in the week, try for at least 1 English or phonics and 1 Maths.

Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for this week?

Phonics

This week we are learning about the letter m.

Have you seen this letter anywhere before? Is it in your name? It's important to remember that when we say the sound, we keep our mouths closed and say 'mmmm' not 'muh'.

Let's start by watching Scrap's Phonics video. Listen out for words that start with the 'm' sound.

After that, listen to the Jolly Phonics song for 'm'.

English

First today, we would love for you to practice writing your name. Using your name writing card, practise overwriting your name and then in the blank box you can write it all by yourself.

Make sure that you are holding your pen properly and writing your letters correctly - starting in the right place and only using capital letters for the first letter.

Today we are going to continue to practice our fine motor skills because this will help to make our hands strong so that we can be fantastic writers!

In your Home Learning Packs you will find a fine motor booklet called 'My Pencil Control Workbook'. Please turn to the second page in the booklet (please see an image of this page on the right hand side here). Try and make sure that you are holding your pencil correctly - remember our SNAPPY CROCODILE who snaps onto our pencil to hold it! Once your fingers are positioned correctly onto the pencil, carefully copy over the lines, starting at the top and going down to the bottom of each.

Challenge: If you have some playdough at home, use this to make the 4 animals that needed to get home. using playdough, plasticine or modelling clay helps to make our hands strong too. If you don't have any playdough you could make some here or use duplo or lego blocks to build them.

Maths

Today we are going to be practicing our counting skills.

To start you can practice your counting on TopMarks. Click the picture at the side to take you there.

Today when we are counting, we are trying to develop our understanding that the last number we say as we count them represents how many are in that set or group (Grown Ups - this is called the Cardinal Principle).

  1. Look at the powerpoint below with Pip the Penguin. Can you count how many fish Pip has caught and put on his plate? Remember the last number you say is how many there are!

2. After you have worked through the powerpoint, complete the sheet below. You don't need to print the sheet - just count how many under the sea creatures there are, and then try and see if you can point to that number on your number track. Maybe your grown up can take a video of you counting and send it to us on EvidenceMe!

Afternoon Activity - RE

For the next few weeks in RE, we will be looking at special stories from the Bible. The Bible is a special book that contains many stories, from how the world was created, the Birth of Jesus and many stories from his life. Today we are going to listen to one of the special stories about Jesus - when Jesus calmed the storm.

Jesus-Calms-the-Storm-Coloring-Page.pdf

Listen to the story of Jesus calming the storm.

How do you think you would feel if you were on the boat in the storm? Would you be scared? Worried? How would you feel when Jesus calmed the storm?

In the story, the disciples (who were Jesus's friends) and Jesus were on a boat. Today we would like you to act out the story, making your own props.

First try to make a boat. You can make one from paper, tin foil, a bottle or maybe you have some blocks that could make one.

When you have made the boat, test that it floats in a container, sink or bath with some water in it.

Next pretend to make a storm - you can move the water to make waves, splash some water, make the sounds of wind, thunder and rain - but try not to sink your boat!

Then you can stop, imagining Jesus has told the storm to "Be Still" and make everything calm again. Your grown up might take photos or a video and send it to us to see.

If you would like to there is also a colouring sheet you can do.

Singing Time!

Well done for another great day of learning Nursery. Today, we are going to end the day with tow of our favourite songs to sing and dance to!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
