Good Morning!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend, and that you are looking forward to another super week of learning! I am looking forward to seeing some of you at 1.00pm and 1.30pm today for our Google Meet sessions!

Please see below for this morning's video!

Phonics

This week we are learning about the letter d.

Have you seen this letter anywhere before? Is it in your name?

Let's start by watching Scrap's Phonics video. Listen out for words that start with the 'd' sound.

After that, listen to the Jolly Phonics song for 'd'.

English

Well done if you have been practicing your name writing everyday! We have been really impressed with the photos we have seen on EvidenceMe. Everyone is making sure they are using the SNAPPY CROCODILE pencil gip, and we can see your letter formation developing!

Using your name writing card, practise overwriting your name and then in the blank box you can write it all by yourself.

Make sure that you are holding your pen properly and writing your letters correctly - starting in the right place and only using capital letters for the first letter.

Today we are going to practice our letter formation, thinking carefully about where we need to start with our pencil, and the direction we need to move it in.

In your Home Learning Packs you will find a letter formation booklet called 'Letter Formation Workbook'. Please turn to the page showing the letter D (please see an image of this page on the left hand side here). Try and make sure that you are holding your pencil correctly - remember our SNAPPY CROCODILE who snaps onto our pencil to hold it! Once your fingers are positioned correctly onto the pencil, start at the arrow and follow in that direction. Once you have practiced overwriting, you can write the letter independently. Remember to start in the same place and use the same directional movements with your pencil as before!

Maths

We are going to start our week of Maths with an interactive game called 'Ladybird Spots'. Count the spots on the ladybird and match the total to the correct numeral. Remember to point to each spot as you go in order to count accurately!

We are now going to think about how we can separate a group of 3 or 4 objects in different ways, but the total always stays the same.

Take a look at Teddy's picture and answer the questions. Using some building blocks or duplo, can you build some different models using the same 4 blocks each time?

It would be great if your grown up could send us some pictures of your models via email or EvidenceMe!

Afternoon Activity - RE

Message for grown ups:

If your child is taking part in the live sessions this afternoon, please complete RE on Friday afternoon instead. If your child is taking part in Friday's live sessions, please complete RE today!

After the live session, your child can complete an activity from the self choice chart if they wish!

This week we are continuing to look at special stories from the Bible. The Bible is a special book that contains many stories, from how the world was created, the Birth of Jesus and many stories from his life. Today we are going to listen to one of the special stories about Jesus - when Jesus walked on water.

Your grown up can read you the story of Jesus Walking on Water, using the powerpoint here.

How do you think the disciples (Jesus's friends) felt when their boat was sailing further out to sea? Perhaps you think they felt scared? How do you think they felt when Jesus walked on water to help them? Talk to your grown up about the story.

Afterwards you can choose one of these colouring sheets to colour in. Remember to think carefully about the colours you choose to use, and try to colour inside the lines!
