Good Morning!

Good morning Nursery!

We hope that you had a lovely half term break and are ready for another half term of learning! For the time being we will still be doing our learning remotely, but we are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Hopefully you have had a chance to pick up your new Home Learning Pack from school. If not, we will be providing the sheets on the blog, but some activities will require the printed resources.

Miss Bailey will be seeing some of you today for a 1:1 Google Meet session, so don't forget to check your email for your invite if you are scheduled for today.

Don't forget to send in your work via EvidenceMe, or via email. We will be able to send feedback back to you. If you can, we would love to see at least 2 pieces of work from you in the week, try for at least 1 English or phonics and 1 Maths.

Please see below for this morning's video!

Phonics

This week we are learning about the letter c.

Have you seen this letter anywhere before? Is it in your name?

Did you know that the letters c & k make the same sound?

Let's start by watching Scrap's Phonics video. Listen out for words that start with the 'c' sound.

After that, listen to the Jolly Phonics song for 'c'.

English

Today we are going to start practicing our name writing again.

Using your name writing card, practise overwriting your name and then in the blank box you can write it all by yourself.

Make sure that you are holding your pen properly and writing your letters correctly - starting in the right place and only using capital letters for the first letter.

Here is our friend Sound Shark sitting on the Teacher's Chair!

In English today we are going to practice blending and segmenting words. This is where we can use our robot arms to help us read a word. Also do you remember our friend Sound Shark? Who only talks in sounds? We are going to speak like him and then figure out what he says!

In your Home Learning Packs there are some sheets where you need to sound out the CVC words, and then draw a line to match them up correctly. The two sheets for you to do are shown at the side.

Grown Ups- to support this activity please watch the video here. At school, we use Sound Shark instead of Fred talk, but the principles are the same.

Maths

To start this half term, each day we are going to be focussing on a different number to really understand what that number means!

We can show numbers in lots of different ways - on our fingers, with blocks, on cards, with tally marks and by writing it!

You can practice writing it, counting it, looking at the numbers that come before it and after it, finding it and drawing it. In your Home Learning Pack there is a Number of the Day sheet for you to complete.

You can also look at the Numberblock video about our number today.

This week we are looking at even numbers. Our number of the day today is 2.

Today we are going to practice sorting. When we sort objects out we look for the things that they have in common - they might be the same shape, the same size or the same colour. Here is a video of Miss Godsell showing you how you can sort out objects in different ways.

Now we would like you to have a go at sorting out some buttons. In your home learning packs are the two sheets you can see at the side. Today we would like you to cut them out and sort them in any way you would like to. Look carefully at them! Maybe you would like to sort them by colour, or shape or by the number of holes that they have in them. There is a sorting sheet to sort them in 2 different ways, but maybe you can sort them in more ways.

Send in the pictures via Evidence Me of how you have sorted out your buttons.

Afternoon Activity - RE & Live Sessions

Message for grown ups:

If your child is taking part in a 1:1 session today, please complete RE on Friday afternoon instead. If your child is taking part in Thursday's 1:1 session, please complete RE today!

After the live session, your child can complete an activity from the self choice chart if they wish!

This half term in RE, we are going to spend the beginning part of the term looking at the Creation Story. This is that way that Christian's believe that God created the world.

Christian's believe that God created the world in 7 days, each day creating something special in the world. Watch this video to see some of the different things that God created in the word.

When you have finished you can complete the colouring sheet (below and in your Home Learning packs), talking to your grown up about some of the things that God created in the world.

Self Choice a.docx

If you joined Miss Bailey for the live session today, you can complete an activity from this self choice chart if you want to.

Story Time!

This week at story time, we are going to be listening to stories by the authors Janet and Allen Ahlberg.

Today's story is called "Each Peach Pear Plum".

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
