Monday - 11/1/21

Good Morning!

Hello Nursery! We hope that you all had a lovely weekend, and that you are ready for another week of home learning!

Well done to everyone who has been having a go at some of the home learning tasks! We have enjoyed seeing your pictures on EvidenceMe!

Today is the first day of the week. You can sing our 'Days of the Week' song to help you work it out:

"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,

Friday, Saturday and Sunday too.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ,7 days,

Everyday different and everyday new".

Did the song help you? Tell your grown up what day it is today.

Have a look out the window and tell your grown up what the weather is like. Would you have to wear a coat outside today?!

Click the tree for today's Collective Worship
Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for this week?

Phonics

This week we will be looking at a new letter and the sound it makes. Our sound of the week is N.

Click on Scrap to go to his map. Look carefully to find the letter N. Watch the video and practice saying the sound.

Next you can click on the Jolly Phonics video link below. Listen to the song and look at the action, then sing along, practicing saying the sound and copying the action.

Finally, have a look at the letter mats below and see if you can find the pictures which have N as their initial sound.

What letter is this? What sound does it make?

Well done if you have been practising writing your name at home everyday! This is important so that you can develop not only your independent name writing, but also your pencil grip and fine motor skills, which will support your letter formation! Using your name card, practice writing over your name first, and then write it on the bottom line by yourself! Make sure that you are holding the pen correctly!

Today we are going to continue to practice our fine motor skills because this will help to make our hands strong so that we can be fantastic writers!

In your Home Learning Packs you will find a fine motor booklet called 'My Pencil Control Workbook'. Please turn to the first page in the booklet (please see an image of this page on the left hand side here). Try and make sure that you are holding your pencil correctly - remember our SNAPPY CROCODILE who snaps onto our pencil to hold it! Once your fingers are positioned correctly onto the pencil, carefully copy over the lines, starting at the top and going down to the bottom of each.

Maths

At school we practice counting everyday. For example, every morning we count together to see how many children are at Nursery. While you are at home doing your learning, keep practicing your counting skills! You can count lots of things around your home - your teddy bears, the number of plates at the dinner table, or the fruit in the fruit bowl!

If you go out on a walk, see if you can spot any numbers in the environment. They might be on front doors, buses or street signs! If you see a number you know, tell your grown up what it is!

Today, lets re-cap our counting skills by counting aloud up to 10. Now see if you can count beyond 10!

Click the link above to play 'Teddy Numbers'. Feed Teddy the correct number of cakes. This is a good game to practice your number recognition and counting skills. Start with 'Numbers up to 5', and move on to 'Numbers up to 10' if you are able to.

Go on a number hunt around your home! What numbers can you see? You could look on clocks, in books and on food packets! In your book you could write the numbers you have found, or ask your grown up to take a picture of you with some of the numbers you found and put in on EvidenceMe or email it to Miss Bailey and Miss Godsell.

Afternoon Activity and Story Time

This week in RE we are thinking about people we love.

We are lucky to have family and friends who love us so much!

Listen to the story 'So Much!', all about a family's love for each other. Afterwards, in your work book, you can draw a picture of someone in your family that you love so much! Tell your grown up why you love them, and they can write this next to your drawing.

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
