Phonics

Yesterday we started learning a new letter 'g'.

Watch the video below which recaps on some of the letters we already know and continues to explore the letter 'g'. Afterwards you can watch the Alphablocks video about 'g'.

English

We are really pleased with how well your name writing is developing at home! Today we would like you to practice overwriting your name first, then write it yourself using your name card for support. Remember to only use a capital letter at the beginning of your name, and use the SNAPPY CROCODILE to make sure you are holding the pencil correctly!

This week we are continuing with our 'People Who Help Us' topic, thinking about people who look after animals such as vets, animal rescue centres and dog groomers.

Today we are reading a story from the Percy the Park Keeper series called 'Percy the Park Keeper One Snowy Night' by Nick Butterworth. It is about Percy the Park Keeper, who always feeds the animals in the park where he lives, but one cold winter’s night, Percy discovers that his little friends need more than food and he must find a way to help them.

Listen to the story, then in your workbook draw a picture of Percy and the different animals that you can remember. Tell your grown up your favourite part of the story, and which animal you like best!

Maths

Here you can see a picture of a very busy zoo!

Try to find the answers to these questions:

  1. How many camels are there?

  2. What colour is the balloon that has floated away?

  3. Can you find the flamingos? Can you count them all?!

  4. How many different types of transport are there?

Next, listen to this song all about numbers and how we write them. Imagine your finger is a 'magic pen' and use it to follow the numbers as they are written on the screen! This will help you with our main activity!

Next we would like you to complete the following pages from you Number Formation booklet. Remember to start at the green dot and follow the direction of the arrow!

Afternoon Activity - Fine Motor

It is really important in Nursery that we engage in lots of activities that build up the muscles in our hands, such as using playdough, bead threading and jigsaw puzzles. All of these activities help to develop our fine motor skills, which are important in our writing development.

Today you are going to be completing an activity using scissors, as this is also helpful in your fine motor development!

Please find below an animal cutting activity. Cut the animals out carefully, remembering our rhyme when using your scissors!

If you have not got access to a printer, your grown up could draw the outlines of some animals for you to cut out. Alternatively, you can collect this worksheet from the school foyer. You will find it in the Nursery tray.
