Good Morning!

Good morning Nursery!

We hope that you had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the milder weather! It is great to see the signs of Spring on the way!

This is our final week of home learning, before we go back to school next week! We are so impressed with how hard you have all worked from home, and we are looking forward to seeing you all back at Nursery!

Miss Bailey is also looking forward to seeing some of you for our Google Meet sessions this afternoon!

Don't forget to send in your work via EvidenceMe, or via email. We will be able to send feedback back to you. If you can, we would love to see at least 2 pieces of work from you in the week, try for at least 1 English or phonics and 1 Maths.

Parents - please note that the word card that is shown on screen for the English activity in the daily video, appears in reverse. Please write the word on paper so that your child can see the letters formed correctly. Many thanks.

Click the tree for today's Collective Worship
Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for this week?

Phonics

This week we are learning about the letter k. It has the same sound as c, but its letter name is different.

Have you seen this letter anywhere before? Is it in your name?

Let's start by watching Scrap's Phonics video. Listen out for words that start with the 'k' sound.

After that, listen to the Jolly Phonics song for 'k'.

English

Today we are going to start practicing our name writing again.

Using your name writing card, practise overwriting your name and then in the blank box you can write it all by yourself.

Make sure that you are holding your pen properly and writing your letters correctly - starting in the right place and only using capital letters for the first letter.

Here is our friend Sound Shark sitting on the Teacher's Chair!

Last week we began to practice blending and segmenting words. Today, we are going to continue working on this skill, as it helps us with our early reading and writing. Blending and segmenting is where we can use our robot arms to help us read a word, just like our friend Sound Shark, who only talks in sounds! Just like last week, we are going to speak like him and then figure out what he says!

In your Home Learning Packs please find the two sheets that are shown below. On the 'CVC Word and Picture Matching' sheet, you will need to sound out the CVC words, and then draw a line to match them up correctly. On the 'I Spy and Read' sheet, you will read the words first using your blending and segmenting skills, then match up each word to the correct picture.

Grown Ups- to support this activity please watch the video here. At school, we use Sound Shark instead of Fred talk, but the principles are the same.

Maths

Today's 'Number of the Day' is 1. 1 is an odd number.

Complete a 'Number of the Day' sheet from your new work pack, focussing on number 1.

Afterwards you can watch the Numberblocks number 1 video!

Today we are going to practice counting. It is a very important skill to master as it helps us understand lots of other types of maths.

Can you start by counting aloud up to 10? Can you count backwards from 10 down to 0? Perhaps your grown up could choose a number in between 0 and 10 to start from - can you count on or back from this number?

We know how great you all are at counting aloud! You are now going to practice counting out a group of objects to find a total. Remember, when you do this, you point to each object saying its number as you go. The final number you count is the total!

Click on the link to play 'Underwater Counting'. You have played this before, and it is a great game to practice your counting! You can start with counting up to 5 objects if you need to, moving onto counting up to 10 objects.

Lastly today in Maths, you are going to find the 'Zoo Animals Counting' sheet in your home learning pack (please see the sheet to the side here).

Count and colour the animals, then find and trace the number that shows the correct total number!

Afternoon Activity - RE & Live Sessions

Message for grown ups:

If your child is taking part in a 1:1 session today, please complete RE on Friday afternoon instead. If your child is taking part in Thursday's 1:1 session, please complete RE today!

After the live session, your child can complete an activity from the self choice chart if they wish!

Last week we began looking at the Creation Story. This is the way that Christian's believe that God created the world.

You will remember that Christian's believe that God created the world in 7 days, each day creating something new and special. You can re-watch this video to remind yourself of some of the different things that God created, and talk about them with your grown up.

The last two pages in your home learning pack a story sequencing activity (please see the sheets below). Today you will cut out the pictures from the first sheet and stick them onto the second sheet in the correct order. You can use the video to remind yourself of what was created each day, and see if you can cut out some of the pictures by yourself!

Self Choice a.docx

If you joined Miss Bailey for the live session today, you can complete an activity from this self choice chart if you want to.

Story Time!

This week at story time, we are going to be listening to stories by the author Mick Inkpen.

Today's story is called 'Kipper'!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
