Good Morning!

Welcome to a new week of Home learning and a new month! Today is the first day of February! We hope you all had a fabulous weekend, and that you are looking forward to another super week of learning!

Miss Bailey is looking forward to seeing some of you at 1.00pm and 1.30pm today for our Google Meet sessions!

There are some extra colouring and activity sheets that we will be using this week. We will provide them for you to print at home. If you do not have a printer however, you can collect them from the office at school if you wish.

Don't forget to send in your work via EvidenceMe, or via email. We will be able to send feedback back to you. If you can, we would love to see at least 2 pieces of work from you in the week, try for at least 1 English or phonics and 1 Maths.

Please see below for this morning's video!

Phonics

This week we are learning about the letter g.

Have you seen this letter anywhere before? Is it in your name?

Let's start by watching Scrap's Phonics video. Listen out for words that start with the 'g' sound.

After that, listen to the Jolly Phonics song for 'g'.

English

Well done if you have been practicing your name writing everyday! We have been really impressed with the photos we have seen on EvidenceMe. Everyone is making sure they are using the SNAPPY CROCODILE pencil gip, and we can see your letter formation developing!

Using your name writing card, practise overwriting your name and then in the blank box you can write it all by yourself.

Make sure that you are holding your pen properly and writing your letters correctly - starting in the right place and only using capital letters for the first letter.

Today we are going to practice our fine motor skills.

In your Home Learning Packs you will find a booklet called 'Pencil Control Workbook'. Please turn to the page showing a football (please see an image of this page on the left hand side here). You need to practice forming circles, but making sure you are following the direction in which the arrow is pointing (anti-clockwise).

After you have done that we are going to continue to make our muscles strong in our hands by using our playdough. Today we are going to the Dough Disco, you are going to practice squeezing, rolling and pinching your playdough to make your hands strong!

Maths

Today we are going to practice our counting. We are going to focus today on counting out from a group. To start with today, you are going to play the Gingerbread Man Counting Game from Top Marks. When you go to the website click on 'Counting out" and start with numbers 1 to 5 and then if you are ready for a challenge 1 to 10. You can click the picture at the side to take you there.

Today we are going to practice counting out from a group. For this activity today you will need your 0-10 number cards and then also 10 objects.

Put all 10 objects together. Turn over a number card, or roll a dice. Count out that many objects. Remember to think carefully about the number you need to count to and where to stop.

You can also watch the video of how to do today's activity.

Afternoon Activity - RE & Live Sessions

Message for grown ups:

If your child is taking part in the live sessions this afternoon, please complete RE on Friday afternoon instead. If your child is taking part in Friday's live sessions, please complete RE today!

After the live session, your child can complete an activity from the self choice chart if they wish!

Today in RE we are going to continue to hear special stories from the bible. Today's story is about Jesus healing a blind man.

If you are blind, it means that you cannot see. It can make things much harder for you to do. Close your eyes and try to draw a picture on some paper - no peeking! - did you find that hard?

To help make things a little easier for people who may be blind, there are many things around that can help. Sometimes people who are blind learn to read with their fingers, using special bumps on paper. Sometimes they might have a guide dog who helps them to walk safely in the street, or they might have a special walking stick too.

When Jesus was alive these things to help might not have been around to help you if you were blind. Today we are going to listen to the story of when Jesus helped a blind man to see again.

JesusHealsABlindManSheet.docx

After listening to the story today, think about how the blind man felt once he could see again. You can do this on the sheet, or in your work book.

You can also choose to do the colouring in sheet if you would like too.

If you joined Miss Bailey for the live session today, you can complete an activity from this self choice chart if you want to.

Story Time!

This week at story time, we are going to be listening to stories by the author Nick Butterworth. He wrote the stories about Percy the Park Keeper (who you will meet a bit more tomorrow!).

Today you are going to listen to the story called 'One Springy Day' and you are lucky that Nick Butterworth, the author is going to read it to you!

We hope you enjoy it!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
