Wednesday - 13/1/21

Good Morning!

We hope you are all having a great week so far!

It was Tuesday yesterday. What day is it today? Sing our song to help you work it out!

What is the weather like today? What clothes would you need to wear of you went outside today?

Click the tree for today's Collective Worship
Click on Scrap to go to his map. Can you find the letter for this week?

Phonics

Today we are continuing with our sound of the week - N.

You can re-cap how to say this sound by clicking on Scrap's map to watch the Espresso video, and by watching the Jolly Phonics song.

Today we would also like you to watch the StoryBots video which shows you lots of different objects starting with the 'n' sound. Can you think of any others? You can tell them to your grown up!

Following on from this, look carefully at the I Spy picture. What can you see that starts with 'n'?

The first writing task today is writing your name! Using your name card, practice writing over your name first, and then write it on the bottom line by yourself! Make sure that you are holding the pen correctly!

Yesterday you listened to the story 'What Should I Wear, Huggle Buggle Bear?' You talked to your grown up about the types of clothes you would wear outside on a cold day. Can you remember what clothes you thought would be a good ideas to wear out in the cold?

Here you can see a picture of lots of different types of clothes. Some of them you wear in the winter when it is cold; others you wear in the summer when it is hot. Look very carefully at the picture and talk to your grown up about the clothes you can see. Which ones do you think you would wear in the cold winter? What about the hot summer?

Ask your grown up to draw two suitcase templates in your workbook and label one 'Winter clothes', and one 'Summer clothes'. You can then draw two or three items of clothing (or more if you wish!) into each suitcase. Listen carefully for the initial sound of each item of clothing and write it down. Remember to make sure you are holding your pencil correctly, and your grown up can write the letter first for you to overwrite if you are finding it tricky! If you can hear the final sound you can write that down too!

Maths

Today you are going to practice both your counting skills and your number recognition! Start by counting up to 10 aloud. Can you count backwards from 10 to 0?

Collect 10 objects from around your home, they can be all the same or different. You could collect pencils, toy cars, lego bricks, apples, pasta pieces, or whatever else you can find at home!

Ask your grown up to make you some number cards from 1 - 10 on some paper. Together you could start by ordering the number cards correctly from 1 to 10. We know that 1 goes first - think carefully about what number would go next. You can count as you go to help you!

With the objects you have collected you are going to play a game! Your grown up is going to say a number between 1 and 10, and you are going to count out that many objects. Can you then find the matching number card? We would love to see some photos on EvidenceMe of you playing this game! You could also practice writing the numbers in your workbook too!

Afternoon Activity

This afternoon we are going to practice keeping both our bodies and minds healthy by doing some yoga!

Yoga is an exercise involving different stretches and moves to help keep our body strong. It also helps keep our brains calm and relaxed.

You can click on the link to watch and join in with this 10 minute yoga video about the animals you would find at the farm.

Think about how your body feels after you have done the yoga moves and stretches.

Story Time!

We have been thinking about different seasons and weather this week.

Today's story is called 'Snow Bears'. Does the snow fall in winter or summer? What clothes would you wear on a snowy day to keep warm?

We hope you enjoy this story this afternoon!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!
