Good Morning!

Well done Nursery for completing another week of wonderful home learning!

Miss Godsell really enjoyed seeing some of you yesterday and I was so impressed by your Phonics and number knowledge!

Please see below for this morning's video!

Phonics

This week we have been learning the sound 'c' and since you started in Nursery you have learned all the letters below:

s a t p i n m d g o c

That is lots of learning!

Today we are going to think about hearing the initial sound in words - thats the first sound you can hear when you say the word.

Look at the pictures below. Can you say what sound they start with?

Did you say p, h, r, e & j? Well done!

It can take practice to hear the initial sounds, but the more you practice the better you will get!

Today we would like you to complete the initial sounds activity sheet in your home learning pack.

Look at the picture in the middle, say it out loud and then circle which sound it starts with.

English

First, practice writing your name. Because it's FUN Friday though... you might like to practice it in a different way! Instead of using a writing pencil, you could use coloured markers or crayons. You could try and write your name in a tray of flour or salt. Maybe you could roll out some play dough and write your name in that! However if you would prefer to do it how we normally do - thats fantastic too!

Today we are going to practice our fine motor skills.

When we are practicing holding our pencil, it is really important that we are trying to use a tripod grip, using 3 fingers and a snappy crocodile to hold our pen or pencil. Today we would like you to complete the gorilla and hippo tracing sheets in your Home Learning Pack. When you have carefully traced the shape to draw them, you can colour them in, trying to colour neatly and stay inside of the lines!

Maths

This week we are looking at even numbers. Our number of the day today is 10.

In your Home Learning Pack there is a Number of the Day sheet for you to complete. You can practice writing it, counting it, looking at the numbers that come before it and after it, finding it and drawing it.

You can also look at the Numberblocks video about our number today (click on the picture to take you to iPlayer).

This week we are looking at even numbers. Our number of the day today is 10.

Today we are going to continue practicing subitising. Can you remember what that word means? It means being able to say how many you can see, without counting.

The way we get better at subitising is by talking about what we can see and how we see it. In our morning video today, Miss Godsell explained how we all can see things a little bit differently. Have a look at the picture below. What can you see? How do you see it?

Today we are going to practice sorting numbers and objects by subitising. Using the pictures and flashcards below, sort them into the correct place. To add some extra challenge, turn the pictures over so they are face down. Turn them over and see if you can say how many there are quickly. If you can, put it on the sorting grid. If you can't turn it back over and try again! If you haven't got a printer, don't worry, ask your grown up to cut out some small pieces of paper and draw 1, 2 or 3 in different ways (fingers, dots, lines etc) and sort these instead!

Afternoon Activity

This half term we are learning all about different animals. There are animals everywhere. Some live on the land, some in the sea, some live in cold weather and some live in warm weather. Some animals live high in trees and some live deep underground. Watch this Animal ABC video, and see if you can join in and name the different animals that you can see.

Today we are going to think about the different animals that live in the sea, and animals that live in water.

In your work book, draw a line down the middle of the page. On one side draw and label 3 animals you know that live on the land and on the other side of the line draw 3 animals that you know of that live in water.

We are looking forward to seeing all the different animals that you know on EvidenceMe!

Story Time!

This week at story time, we have been listening to stories by the authors Janet and Allen Ahlberg. They wrote and illustrated all the stories we have heard this week.

Today we are going to listen to 'Starting School'

We hope you enjoy it and have a lovely weekend!

Don't forget we love to see your lovely learning on EvidenceMe, or get your grown ups to email us pictures of all your hard work!

Grown Ups if you need us, please don't hesitate to contact us via email.
