U2: PRIORITIZING EACH GUIDING SYSTEM

PEGS (Europe)

Unit 2 Learning Targets

  • I can analyze France and Germany's histories to determine how time periods impacted their current system of PEGS.
    • France: From the formation of the Franks through French Revolution and Napoleon to today
    • German: From the Holy Roman Empire through unification under Wilhelm I and Bismarck to today
  • I can analyze primary sources to understand each system of PEGS and then determine which system of PEGS was most important to Ancient Rome's development and success.
  • I can research and present important events about one time period of European History.
  • I can debate and record information about which time periods of European History were most important to the development of European countries.
  • SUMMATIVE: I can create a country based on European country data (PEGS) to reflect what is important for each system of PEGS.

PART ONE/ISN Work

You will get to explore Europe by focusing on the role ancient civilizations played in setting the foundation. Ancient Greece and Rome created types of government still seen today, the way they used the land to their advantage helps us see the important of geography, and the cultures continue to influence our social system.

PART TWO/FORMATIVE

After looking at the PEGS of ancient civilizations we will turn to the way Europe was left when Rome fell by tracing the events from the Middle Ages to the Cold War. You will research one time period by focusing on important events and how this time period shaped Europe today. Then you will debate about which time period was most important.

PART THREE/SUMMATIVE

The summative assessment will allow you to focus on one country to determine how the country was important to the overall development of Europe. You will need to focus on one time period/event that was crucial to the country and how TWO system of PEGS contributed to the development of the country.

If you want to work with a partner, you need to complete all the systems of PEGS and more than one time period/event OR complete the requirements for the summative with two countries.
