Science Demonstrations by Students
Doing some "cool" and interesting things in science class is in your hands.
During most days, one student will perform some sort of demonstration for the class.
It should take about 2 to 5 minutes, including the introduction, the demonstration, and the explanation.
Take a look at the spreadsheet below to get some ideas of what has been done before, and then do some research to come up with an idea for your own demo.
Once you have made a decision, enter it into the form at the bottom of this page. I'll be posting some links on this page that will give you some ideas.
You can have other people help you out, but they won't get credit -- each person has to do their own.
Instructions:
1. Read the introduction paragraph at the top of this page.
2. Browse the "Useful Websites" and list of sample demo's OR just do a YouTube search for "science tricks" or similar
3. Choose two demos that you could do, and then for each one...
4. Fill out the form below then monitor the spreadsheet and await my comment
5. If approved ("yes" in the "go" column), find open spots on the calendar below.
6. Practice and prepare
Expectations
1. Preparation (do you have all the stuff ready to go on your presentation day and is it evident that you have practiced)
2. Presentation (getting class quiet, using strong voice & eye contact, good pacing, explaining things as you go)
3. Content (explaining the science involved and the connection to student's experiences)
