Vertebrates

Unit 8: Vertebrates

February 12 to March 6, 2009

Overview: Vertebrates...animals with backbones! Although there is a wide variety of vertebrates, the subgroups are quite similar in structure. This unit covers the fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. We'll look at the relationship between an animal's physiology, behavior, and environment. The animal world has some amazing solutions to the challenges of staying alive. As the trimester project, students will work in teams on board games that teach about an animal group -- it is a great exercise in research, product design, testing, and a fun week of playing games too!
