Timelines – events that are happening right now, or news that is of interest to readers right now

Proximity – events or situations that occur near the reader

Uniqueness – very unusual events or situations

Impact – news that will affect a large number of readers

Prominence – well-known people or groups of people

Suspense – events, such as disasters, where the outcome is not known
