Hello All.

It is late Sunday night and I lost track of time as I was getting ready for the Walkabout for room 29 that starts tomorrow. I'll mention just a few items in this newsletter.

1. San Francisco: I made a big mistake by not contacting the Fort Mason hostel months ago to reserve dorm rooms for our class' SF trip that was supposed to be the week of April 17. As you may have heard, the hostel is fairly full and can't accommodate a group our size any time between now and when school ends. Room 26 does have space paid for, too much space in fact, so Ms Garcia and I have worked out a scenario that will keep the school from paying for empty beds and allow all of the kids in rm 25 to do a SF trip. Seven kids from our class will go with 19 from room 26 during "their" trip on April 11 to 14. I'll be joining that group for one day and night. Then, from May 8 to 11, I'll take the remaining 16 kids on a similar SF adventure that we create -- Danchi has already coordinated some planning documents!

2. Work Shifts: Since I'll be gone, parents who work on Monday and Tuesday don't have to come from the 12 to 1 time, but you might want to arrange for a substitute to cover recess or lunch duty if you have it.

3. Party Friday!? On the last day before Spring break we will have an all-homeroom Friday. Since we haven't had any yet, I think that it is high time that we have some sort of classroom celebration. I'm going to leave it up to the kids to pitch in ideas for activities or even a theme, but to make the food process easy, we can use the process described on this "celebrations" page of my site. Take a look and submit a food that you can contribute.
