ISD 831 Web Publishing Guidelines

The goal of Forest Lake Area School District Web Sites is to provide information with the communities within the Forest Lake Area School District as well as with the rest of the world, regarding school curriculum and instruction, school authorized activities, and other information relating to the educational mission of the Forest Lake Area School District.

To promote the safety of our students/staff:

    1. Published documents must not include a person’s phone number, street address or box number, or names of other family members.

    2. Documents must not include any information which indicates the physical location of a person at a given time other than attendance at a particular school or participation in school activities.

    3. Documents must not contain objectionable material or point directly or indirectly to objectionable material.

    4. Documents must conform to school board policies and established school guidelines.

Published information must be appropriate:

All subject matter on Forest Lake Area School District Web pages and their links must relate to curriculum and instruction, school-authorized activities, or information about the Forest Lake Area School District or its mission. Staff or student work may be published only as it relates to a class project, course, or other school-related activity. Neither students, staff, nor other individuals may use the District’s Web pages to provide access to personal home pages.

Any published e-mail address, survey-response links, or other direct response content may be made to staff school e-mail addresses only.

Any links on District Web pages to sites that are not specifically curriculum related should be limited to information about other youth activities, agencies, or organizations that are known to be nonsectarian, exclusively devoted to community interests or child welfare, non-profit, and nondiscriminatory. Links will not include entities whose primary purpose is commercial advertising or political advertising, except as explained in the following guidelines regarding sponsorship and fundraising.

District programs may create a web page(s) recognizing names of businesses, organizations or individuals who donate goods and or services to our schools or programs. Sponsorship pages will be separate from school/district pages and only have information relevant to the sponsorship. The link to the sponsorship page will be: Sponsors for { your program name }. For example: Sponsors for the Senior High Debate Program

Links may be provided from the sponsorship page for business or organization web pages only. No links will be provided for individual home pages.

The following disclaimer must appear on every sponsorship page:

Forest Lake Area Schools is grateful to its sponsors and provides this list in appreciation of these sponsors' generosity. Publishing this list is not an endorsement or warranty of the services, products or viewpoints of these entities.

District programs may create a web page(s) providing information regarding fundraising.
