Post Google Classroom Calendar on Website

With a little setup work, you can create a dynamic calendar on your Google Website that will allow parents to see all of your Google Classroom posted assignments. The example to the right is a list view (Agenda) of classroom assignments on a calendar. Calendars can also be displayed in a monthly or weekly format.

Below is a step-by-step tutorial to walk you through the entire process. In broad strokes, they include:

  • sharing your calendar (making it open to the public)

  • creating a new web page

  • inserting a calendar(s) into this web page

  • saving your work

Let's get started -

1) Go to calendar.google.com . Google should have created a calendar for each of your Google Classrooms.

2) To the right of each classroom, click on the small pull-down arrow and then select "Share this Calendar" from the resulting list.

3) You will need to check the following two boxes to allow the calendar to be seen by your website visitors.

Be sure to save these settings by clicking on the "Save" button.

4) Next, you will need to go to your teacher website and sign-in as though you wish to edit it.

5) Once signed-in, click the icon for making a new page, shown below.

6) You will be prompted to give the page a name. I suggest you include the term "calendar" or "schedule" somewhere in the name.

7) You should also consider where this page should be located. Most likely, it should be placed under the name of the class in question, but you will need to determine what works for your site.

8) When the page is created, you will be in "edit" mode, so you can move right into adding the calendar. Simply go the the "Insert" menu, and click the "Calendar" option in the right-hand column.

9) You will be given a list your calendars. Select the correct calendar for this class.

10) You will be asked to make choices on the display options. If you are going to do a "month" calendar, I would suggest a height of at least 800 pixels. You can change these settings later if you do not like them.

11) Your calendar will not be fully displayed until you click the "Save" button for the website. Then you should see the calendar as the public will see it.

12) If you wish to adjust your display settings, you will need to edit the page, by clicking on the "edit" button.

13) Click the calendar object (big blue box with the calendar's label) and click the "settings" icon when the menu pops up.
