Test Scoring

In an effort to find new ways of test scoring that move us away from bubble sheets, we are looking at several possible solutions. Below is some information on ZipGrade, or you can also click here to see how Google Quiz also offers an alternative.

The first is using a piece of software called ZipGrade.

ZipGrade is a solution that looks promising.

  • we print our own sheets

  • "scanning" is done with a camera device (your phone, a tablet, etc.)

  • apps are available for both Android and iOS

  • scanning can be done on the spot as student finish for instant feedback

  • significant cost savings (~$400 as opposed to $4000-$5000 per year)

  • no hardware to support (Tammy estimates she spends over 100 hours a year on scanner support)

  • The picture to the right shows a simple 20 answer sheet, but they also have sheets with up to 50 or 100 questions as well. (The 100 question sheet is shown below.

I would love for you to try the free version to give me your opinion. The free version, however, limits the user to 100 scans per month. Still, you could do a test in May, and another in June to see how you like it.

If we were to move forward with this, we would license each teacher who wishes to use it.
