Google Meet - Schedule & Use

This is a fantastic video on how to schedule and use Google Meet with a classroom. The video is set to play where the actual "how to" begins, but feel free to start from the beginning to get the big picture.

Learn how to:

• Create a meet and share with students

  • link - think posting to Canvas or Classroom

  • email

  • PHONE - include kids without email via a phone call

• Create a meet through Calendar Invites

• Muting Audio or Video

• Turning on Closed Captioning

• Sharing your Screen (or let students share theirs)

• Text chat

  • If you keep the text chat open, you can encourage your students to ask to speak. This way you can call on students and control the flow of the interactions.

  • You can put up info that you want students to be able to see while you continue to talk (links, essential questions, etc.)

Here is another video by the same presenter showing how to prepare to present, and how NOT to accidentally display things on your computer that might be sensitive or embarrassing. The video intentionally starts midway, to get to the heart of the matter.
