18th of February 2020- My First Science Buskers Lesson
I had my first Science Buskers lesson. We made Elephant Toothpaste and played with bubbles.
We tried making elephant toothpaste today. First we had to get all our equipment which was a tote tray, 5 drops of food dye, 5 mls dish washing liquid, 5 mls of hydrogen peroxide, 10 drops of potassium iodide, eye dropper, boil or heat resistant test tube and a measuring tube.
The first thing we did when making the elephant toothpaste was put 5-6 drops of food dye in our test tube. I was quite funny as some people mixed lots of different colours together and got really messy. The second thing we did was put in 5 mls of dish washing liquid. Someone took the lid off the dish soap and lots of us pour 10-15 mls in it was a little embarrassing when Mrs Quaid said we had to keep the lid on. The next thing we did was put in the hydrogen peroxide. After that we put in the potassium iodide. It was funny because everyone who put in to much dish washing liquid had to put more potassium iodide and hydrogen peroxide. I enjoyed watching my elephant toothpaste raise and come out the top of my test tube. We had to be careful when the chemical react because the mixture can get up to 100 degrees Celsius.
