Elephants toothpaste was created from a reaction with the potassium iodide and hydrogen peroxide. what happened is that the extra potassium iodide sped up the process that hydrogen peroxide was getting torn apart because of some anomaly. But the reason you see the foam because usually there is not much to see when it is only a gas so you add dish washing liquid to trap the gases making foam, don't touch because when the reaction starts the foam can be up to hundred degrees Celsius but in a minute or two it will cool down allowing you to touch it. And another thing is that you need hydrogen peroxide at 20% and with that amount of percent that means it can slowly kill your skin if gets on your skin.
