This session we were testing projects for LUMA. I got to test three. The first one I tested was acetylene gas. It is where you mix two certain chemicals and then hold a match over it. It will then light up and go boom. The second one was flaming colours. I already did this. The third one I tested was elephant toothpaste. We mixed the chemicals together and then it spurted out of a tube and started growing a bit. It was really cool to watch and it almost spilt over the tub a few times.

In these two sessions of Science Buskers we made flaming colours. It is where you have a flame and add different chemical powders. It was a practice for the LUMA which is a light festival. We added copper and lithium to methylated spirits. This changed the flames colour. The copper made the flame go a really pretty blue/green colour and the lithium made it go red. We mixed the two colours and it was really pretty. Both of the sessions were lots of fun.

This was my very first session at Science Buskers. In this session we made oobleck. It was heaps of fun and it got extremely messy. We dyed it pink. We also put it onto a speaker playing music, the oobleck looked like it was dancing on top of the speaker. The ingredients to make oobleck is 1 part water to 2 parts cornstarch. You can then add more of either one to make it become your desired texture. At first our one was really chunky but we then added more water and it became a good consistency. We also decided to put it into a balloon!
