Acid and bases is a chemical reaction, where when the right about of acid and alkaline are combined together make salt and water.
The more universal indicator you put in, the darker the colour will be.
I will need to redo this
Green is in the middle of the Ph scale, so it neutral. When making green I recommend using a test tube. You first start out with a few drops of universal indicator. You want to have around 5cm of your base in the tube. Then you slowly add the acid drop by drop, mixing the acid trough each time. This will take a lot of patients.
If the solution starts to change from purple to a different colour, you will need to add small drops of acid. If you are unable to do small drops, then I recommend putting some acid on a petri dish. Then get a glass steering stick, and tap the acid lightly then put that into the test tube. Doing this will help you control how big each drop is. Also, don't forget to mix through
When making rainbow in a tube, I recommend using a small measuring cylinder and a splint. You first start out with a few drops of universal indicator. Then you add your base to the 15ml line and put the splint in (you might want to add more base if you would like a bigger rainbow). You then add 10ml of acid making sure it stays on the top of the base, and then you start to move your splint back and forth. When it started to make a rainbow in the middle, you should take the splint out otherwise if you over mix it, the whole tube will be one solid colour. - This will need to be test because I made this on mistake when I was trying to make green, oops
have the purple the add the red then mix
Like how the top one is but you do it the opposite, you will need to do this quickly because the base is heavier. so the purple will sink to the bottom
have red the purple
