The Folly of Rogues

The title dance of this blog is unfortunately still missing. The Falls of Rogie is perfectly fine on its own. Perhaps there could be another dance with the corners chasing round, but with the half reels having a left shoulder pass between them ("Else it wasn't really a reel, was it?", as Ron Nedderman from Cambridge says)?

1516 (sequel to 1314)

Whenever I hear 1314 announced, I feel that they're missing two counts - clearly there should be a 1516 in order to complete the phrase. But so far I haven't been able to come up with such a dance - there isn't an obvious variation on 1314. It should probably be J64+S64.

The Spaniel and the Labrat

La Baratte can be hard to pronounce, as can TheEspagnole. Cut out a syllable each and you have another animal-themed dance.

The Wholly Polite Strathspey

Being wholly rude to your partner doesn't seem in the spirit of Scottish dancing - why did you bother asking them? Perhaps it's possible to take hands on more occasions? Set advancing, touch hands and cast? Or half turn the 2s? Finish the reel by turning 3/4 RH rather than just passing LSh to face corners? Mucking up the corners pass and turn by sociably taking hands with the corners as they come in?
