Sousveillance

According to Rainie & Wellman (2012), in sousveillance, those from below watch those in power, be it people or organizations (240). Steve Mann coined the term when he started to blog about people watching in him shop. Other examples of this are Wikileaks and the OpenNet Initiative. This type of surveillance takes advantage of networked, online information and allows "surveilling the surveillers" (p. 241). Social media sites is one way this information is found (p.243).
