Using one case for the analysis example

"In the remainder of this paper we analyze this single case of whistle-blowing and offer a series of propositions that provide the basis for a theoretical perspective on whistle-blowing. First we examine the preconditions for whistle-blowing found in (1) BART's organizational structure, (2) the work roles of professional employees, and (3) the career commitments of potential whistle-blowers. The next section examines the process of learning to become a whistle-blower. Emphasis is upon the early expression of concern about organizational practices and policies that strats as "normal dissent" because it is based on internal communication. Management reactions to internal communications shape the subsequent action of whist-blowers, which is to shift to external communications" (Perrucci, Anderson, Schendel, Trachtman, 1980, p. 152).
