According to Selber, “Some feel that the primary role of schools is to socialize students into the existing ideological order, while others believe that schools should teach various forms of resistance to power and authority. In Burkean terms, educators remain divided over whether education should be a function of society or whether society should be a function of education” (Selber, 2004, p. 7).
