LESSON OBJECTIVES
describe force; and
2. distinguish between different types of forces.
SUCCESS CRITERIA
The learners are able to:
Differentiate the different types of forces
DISCUSSION
What is a force?
• A force is a push or a pull resulting due to the interaction between two objects.
• Force is external (coming from a source outside the subject affected) and results only when there is interaction between objects.
• You cannot see force.
• You can only see what it does.
What do forces have?
• Forces have size.
• Forces are measured in Newtons which is abbreviated as "N".
• Forces are measured using a Newton Meter or force meter.
When a force is exerted on an object, it can change the object’s:
• speed
• direction of movement
• shape (for example, an elastic band gets longer if you pull it)
