How do we and write numbers up to hundred thousands?
How many digits do you see in each number?
Can you read the numbers?
To read a five-digit number, we must separate the digits by periods.
The numbers formed by the digits in one period are read together, along with the name of the period.
Starting from the right, separate Ones Period from the Thousands Period by providing a space after three places.
Numbers are written in words in the same way that they are read.
Practice reading and writing the following numbers in words:
84 186 15 237 8 841 8 729
Zero as a symbol for a numbers stands for nothing. Thus, we do not use it for counting. However, it has a place value depending on its position in the number.
Can we just leave the space for zero vacant? Why? How will you read and write 20 603?
