Analytic Rubric is more commonly used because it gives students a clearer picture of why they got the score they earned.

All I can say is great and it was appropriate for the performance task.

Rubrics help with assessment as learning or self-evaluation. Both teachers and students would struggle to have an effective teaching-learning process if there were no rubrics in place for assessment. Although the student comprehends the problem, he or she is unable to discover relevant facts or devise a strategy for resolving it.

If I were to improve on one scoring rubric used, I would choose the cha-cha rubric I will add their costumes as one of the mechanic or points we know that costumes has great impact too in a performance.

Yes, essay or other written requirements, even if it is a written paper-and- pencil test can be considered an authentic form of assessment because authentic assessments require students to demonstrate their learning through essays which can cater the depths of students learning rather than filling in circles on a multiple-choice test. Again the test can be an essay, a speech, or a variety of other assignments like written requirements.
6. Can rubrics help make student help make students to become self-directed or independent learners? Do rubrics contribute to assessment as learning (self-assessment?) What if there were no rubrics in assessment?
Yes, rubrics will greatly help to make student help make students to become self-directed or independent learners. And of course rubrics is a big help with assessment as learning or self-evaluation to students. And if they we're no rubrics it is hard to identify if your learning and growing.

Authentic Assessment tools and tasks are new it's been there since the old times. It is is used basically in learning. All the tests I experienced in the years as a student i counter different kinds of assessment helping me to learn effectively.
